ADVANCE NOTIFICATION OF ROAD IMPROVEMENTS SCHEME: A17 HOFFLEET STOW RESURFACING
I am writing to inform you that we are currently planning the above highway scheme and that it will be necessary to close sections of the road to vehicular traffic during these works, which are due to start on Monday 13th April for up to fourteen weeks.
As part of the improvements, a nighttime weekday road closure will be in place on the A17 between Bicker Bar roundabout and Hipper Lane junction, from 13th April to 17th July (subject to weather).
These sections of the A17 are deteriorating, so we are taking the opportunity to rebuild them to improve the safety and usability of the road. In addition, we will also be using this opportunity to realign the existing junction between the A17 and B1181 Mill Lane.
The diversion route for the road closures will be via A52 / A16, and vice versa.
Because this is such a large project, there will inevitably be some disruption, but we will do our best to keep this to a minimum. This includes:
- Maintaining access for residents and emergency services throughout the project as far as reasonably practicable
- Having gatemen present at each end of the closure to assist with access and egress
- Implementing a signed diversion route during closures
- Doing our absolute best to carry the scheme out as quickly and efficiently as possible
